Travels from the Valle de la Luna to the Casa Rosada
6 March – 28 March 2020
Popular Winchester artist Josephine Chisholm has been inspired by a visit to South America for her latest exhibition of paintings at The Minster Gallery.
Discovering El Cono Sur: Travels from the Valle de la Luna to the Casa Rosada will be Josephine’s third show at the gallery in Great Minster Street, Winchester. The bright colours and lively composition familiar from her hugely popular paintings of her home city are used to conjure up the warmth and beauty of Chile and Argentina.

The paintings in this exhibition evoke the energy of Buenos Aires, the elegance of Santiago, and beautiful landscapes featuring desert, mountains and the vineyards of El Cono Sur. The artist says: ‘My subjects are the kaleidoscope of life.’
As always in her paintings, Josephine expresses what she calls ‘my joie de vivre, my optimism and enthusiasm.’
Josephine Chisholm graduated from the Bristol College of Art and Design as a graphic designer and went on to complete a number of painting courses including one in Winchester where she lives and teaches.
Discovering El Cono Sur: Travels from the Vallee de la Luna to the Casa Rosada opens with a Private View on 6 March 2020 which will include a tasting of Chilean Wines from Wine Utopia.
