The Wapping Group
23 October – 21 November 2015
Formally founded in 1946, The Wapping Group is one of the longest established societies of professional artist in the UK. Whatever the weather, this group of 25 dedicated atrists meets every week between April and September at a chosen venue between Henley and the Thames Estuary. There is a great camaraderie among these artists and the Group has remained exactly what it first set out to be: a small group of fellow-artists, appreciating each other’s company while painting outdoors together in all weather. For almost 70 years now, The Wapping Group has recorded the changing face of London and the river Thames. The Minster Gallery will be showing a new collection of works painted recently by its Members along the Thames and exceptionally, in Winchester, from 23 October 2015.
